Diana Zoey Coop

Zoey Couture Designs by
Artist Diana Zoe Coop.

All Zoey Couture custom designs are created by Diana Zoe Coop, a Vancouver-based artist and designer whose costumes have been worn by international athletes for 15 years.

Coop combines floral and abstract painting with textured fabrics, bold colours and shimmery embellishments to create unique costumes that add flair to any athletic performance.

While her background as a painter inspires the creation of one-of-a-kind costumes, her involvement in international performance sport informs her costume production process. Coop has been involved with the BC Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics Federation (BCRSGF) since 1988 as a member of the board of directors and as judges’ chairperson, and understands the needs of athletes in performance sports.

Coop became a brevet judge (internationally qualified) in 1997, and has judged on behalf of Canada in more than 15 international competitions including the FISU Games in Belgrade (2009), the Maribor World Cup (2009, 2008) and the Innsbruck Grand Prix (2007), providing her with unique insight into the role of costumes in performance impact.

A costume, she believes, is part of the visual storytelling inherent in dance, syncro and gymnastics, and the relationship between music, movement and costume is synergistic. Learn more about Coop’s design philosophy.

Coop was a nominee for the President’s Award for volunteerism with the BCRSGF in 2009, and a YWCA Women of Distinction nominee in the category of Recreation, Sport and Active Living in 1997.

Her expressionist paintings have been exhibited across Canada and the United States, and profiled in the Digital Arts Journal. She is known for her City of Vancouver Summer Street Banners (1994) and numerous commissioned corporate and residential projects.
